EuMW 2016 will take place from 3 to 7 October 2016 in London, UK. Bringing industry and academia together, European Microwave Week 2016 is a five day event, including three cutting edge conferences and one exciting trade and technology exhibition featuring leading players from across the globe.

In the frame of EuMW 2016, Claudio Paoloni (TWEETHER) and Valerio Frascolla (mmMAGIC) will chair a workshop on “Millimetre-Wave Electronics for High Capacity Wireless Networks”, which will offer the vision on the state of the art in the field of millimetre wave wireless networks through the latest update from renowned experts from operators, electronic manufacturers and academia. Roberto Dionisio (European Space Agency) and Claudio Paoloni have organized the Short Course “The Basics of Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers” on Monday 3rd October, 2016. Claudio Paoloni will give a tutorial on “Slow wave structures for micro- and millimeter- waves”. More info here.

The International Conference on IRMMW-THz is the oldest and largest continuous forum specifically devoted to the field of ultra high frequency electronics and applications. The scope of the conference extends from millimeter wave devices, components and systems to far-infrared detectors and instruments, and encompasses micro- and nano-scale structures to large-scale accelerators and Tokamaks and their applications.

Claudio Paoloni will present the paper titled “A Traveling Wave Tube for 92 – 95 GHz band wireless applications” with the latest results on the fabrication of the W-band TWT for the TWEETHER Transmission Hub.

The RF MST Cluster Meeting is co-organized with the European Commission and is open to all RF Microsystems projects. The goal of this workshop is to share the latest developments obtained in the RF MST projects funded by the European Commission and to promote exchanges between scientists active in the same area as well as synergies between projects. TWEETHER project has been invited to participate in the annual RF MST Cluster Meeting, which will take place on 4th July 2015 in Bucharest, Romania. Viktor Krozer will present the project in this meeting.

The 25th European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC 2016) will take place from 27 to 30 June 2016 in Athens, Greece. EuCNC will be exceptional and a cornerstone event for showing the status of research in advanced networks and associated topics, with multiple exciting sessions, workshops, exhibitions/demonstrations, as well as an outstanding social program.

Ruth Vilar and Antonio Ramirez participate to the organization, led by Valerio Frascolla (mmMAGIC), of the joint special session of the mmMAGIC, TWEETHER, MiWaves and MiWEBA projects titled “Millimeter-waves as a key enabling technology for 5G: Status of the pre-development activities and way forward”. Claudio Paoloni will give the talk “W-band point to multipoint system for small cells backhaul”.

Claudio Paoloni will present the paper titled “Millimeter Wave Wireless System Based on Point to Multipoint Transmissions” in the context of the Air Interfaces Track (PHY, MAC, RRM).

The 17th edition of the International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC 2016) will be held on 19-21 April 2016 in Monterey, California. With technical co-sponsorship from the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS), the conference will provide a forum for scientists and engineers from around the globe to present the latest developments in vacuum electronics technology at frequencies ranging from the UHF to THz frequency bands.

Claudio Paoloni will participate at the International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC2016, Monterey US) presenting how the TWEETHER project could impact on the TWT market bridging the vacuum electronics from a niche market to a large volume market.

The European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), owned by the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP), is supported by top level world-wide associations on Antennas and Propagation, and provides a forum on the major challenges faced by these communities.

TWEETHER project was invited to the industrial workshop “Key enabling technologies on antenna and channel models for an effective mmWave 5G deployment” organized at the EuCAP2016, which will take place in April in Davos, Switzerland. Ruth Vilar will present the technological advancements achieved in the project.

The project TWEETHER “Traveling wave tube for W-band wireless networks with high data rate distribution, spectrum and energy efficiency” started on January 1, 2015. The kick-off meeting was held on January 15-16, 2015 at Lancaster University in Lancaster, UK. The meeting started with an open session to present the project and the 8 partners comprising the TWEETHER consortium and Andy Sutton, from EE, gave a talk about the role of W-band millimetre wave radio systems in next generation mobile networks backhaul. After the open session, the meeting focused on the planning of the first period activities.
